A Pillow Block, or Bearing Unit / Bearings Block, is commonly used as a support unit to support shafts and couplings. It consists a bearing insert inside a housing that is mounted to a surface. The bearing units can accommodate misalignments to a certain degree. The housing unit comes in different types, including standing type (UCP, UP) or flange type (UFL, UCFL). Pillow block bearings also come in different materials. The housing is standard cast iron or stainless steel, while the bearing unit is bearing steel or stainless steel. Other materials like thermoplastic or ceramic are available.
